He quickly discovered his being attracted to direction, so he joined Youssef Chahine scholars.In 1992 he became co-director to Youssef Chahine in “El Mohager ” film. He participated in writing the film’s scenario and dialogue together with others. This is highly reflected in the next films, particularly when he became the executive director of “Al Masir “, “Al Akhar”, and “Alexandria- New York ” that he assisted Youssef Chahine in writing the story, scenario and dialogue for these films.-In 2000, he authored and directed his first film “El Assifa”, and he obtained the Grand Prize of the International Jury (Silver Pyramid) and the Best Arab Film Award for his first film Al Assifa at the 24th edition of Cairo International Film Festival ,in addition to the Best Director Award (first film) at the 7th edition of the National Festival of Egyptian Cinema. اقرأ المزيد
He participated in many international festivals, such as San Francesco Festival in USA,In 2001, he made his second film ” Gawaz Be Qarar Gomhouri “.- In 2004, he made the film ” Enta Omri ” has been represented Egypt at Cairo International Cinema Festival and the film won the Reward of the Best Actress.- In 2005-2006, he presented “Ouija” and ” Khiana Mashroaa ” written and directed by him , in these films showed the extent of the public response to his films, he participated with the director Youssef Chahine co-directed the film “ Heya Fawda “ in rare previous in history of Egyptian cinema , this film represented Egypt in Venice International Film Festival in its formal competition..- In the same year (2007) The film “Heena Maysara” that has caused much controversy not only in Egypt alone, but around the world and achieved great success at the criticism and public levels and has won most of the prizes of the National Festival of Egyptian Cinema such as: Best Film, Best Director, Best Decor, Best Acting .- In 2008 he Presented the film “Al Rayes Omar Harb” and won the best Director Award from the Egyptian National Film Festival for the second year in a row.- In 2009, he was completed the ninth film “Dokan Shehata” after he became one of the most prominent Arab film directors and the most controversial about problematic has been provided that is deserve discussion in a cinematic style characterized by visual pleasure and a distinctive style in visual simulation .- In 2010, he presented his 10th film “Kallemni Shokran” , in which he presented his own vision of the impact of the communications revolution on the change of the value system in the Arab society. In the same year, he completed his eleventh film “Kaf El Qamar” , and had not been able to display his film until the end of 2011 year due to the circumstances of the revolution of 25 January .His triple films (Dokan Shehata – Heya Fawda – Heena Maysara) were considered of those that contributed in exposing the size of injustice, coercion, and corruption suffered by Egyptians.These films witnessed the January 25th revolution, and subsequent events before its occurrence by years, and even predicted by all details, and it was considered as one of the most important signs of the Revolution.His latest film (Kaf Al-Qamar 2010) also witnessed the reality of the Arab nation after the revolutions, of disintegration, divisions, conflicts, and the magnitude of the challenges it faces .- In 2017 he came back behind the cinema camera to shoot his latest film KARMA.
